Cabinets are only as good as the wall behind them. In a Boston triple-decker or pre-war unit, no corner is actually 90 degrees and the plaster hides exactly where the studs are, so a cabinet run that isn't shimmed and scribed to a real level line ends up with doors that don't line up and gaps you can see from the doorway. We install to the studs, level across the whole run, and scribe the fillers so it reads as one clean line instead of a row of boxes fighting the wall.

Flat-pack or custom, kitchen or bath or closet — we handle assembly, mounting, leveling, and the trim details. If there's a flat-pack box that's been sitting in your hallway since you optimistically ordered it "for a weekend project," we'll take it off your hands. Pricing depends on the number of boxes, the layout, and the wall condition, so every cabinet job gets a free quote first.

Kitchen Cabinet Installation

Full kitchen runs, islands, uppers and lowers, flat-pack (IKEA and similar) or custom boxes. We set a level line, hang to studs, and align every door and drawer front. Full details on kitchen cabinet installation in Boston.

Bathroom Vanity Installation

Vanity swaps and new installs, wall-hung or floor-standing, with the plumbing cut-outs and wall anchoring done right. See bathroom vanity installation in Boston.

Closet & Storage Systems

Reach-in and walk-in closet systems, pantry shelving, garage and mudroom storage. Anchored into framing so loaded shelves don't sag or pull out of the plaster. Here's closet & storage systems in Boston.

Cabinet Installation FAQs

How much does cabinet installation cost in Boston?

It comes down to how many boxes are going in, the layout, and what shape the wall is in behind them — a straight run of upper cabinets is a different job than an island with plumbing and electrical to work around. That's why cabinet work across kitchens, vanities, and closets is priced by free quote rather than a flat number that ignores your actual room.

Do you assemble flat-pack cabinets too?

Yes — we assemble and install IKEA and other flat-pack lines, or install cabinets you already have built. Either way they get leveled and anchored the same.

Can you install cabinets on plaster walls?

We locate the studs behind the plaster and anchor into solid framing, not just the plaster face. Plaster alone will not hold a loaded upper cabinet or a wall-hung vanity long term — it looks solid until something heavy pulls straight through it.

Do you handle the countertop and plumbing?

We set the cabinets and can coordinate the rest; tell us the scope and we'll lay it out in the quote.

Will my cabinet job need a permit?

Swapping cabinets in the same footprint usually doesn't require one. It's a different question if the layout moves plumbing, gas, or electrical — a relocated sink or a new outlet run can trigger a permit even though the cabinets themselves don't. We'll tell you upfront if your job crosses that line. See Melrose's permitting guide.

How do I know a cabinet contractor is legit?

Cabinet work is a bigger-ticket decision than a small repair, so it's worth checking. In Massachusetts, home improvement contractors doing this kind of work should be properly licensed and insured — Boston's own guidance is a good starting point if you want to verify before anyone starts pulling out your old cabinets. See Boston's Home Improvement Contractor guidance.
